Class DESCRIPTIONS


  • Ballet

    Foundations of ballet alignment, basic positions, carriage of the arms, and class etiquette are introduced. Dancers learn about articulation of the feet and ankles, rotation of the hips (or “turn out”), skips, and jumps. As they progress, students explore challenging barre exercises, turns, leaps, slow balances (adagio exercises), and complex combinations.

  • Jazz

    Students will be exposed to various styles of jazz to help developed a well- rounded dancer.  The class curriculum is based around ballet technique layered with traditional movement.  The class includes a warm-up, stretches, isolations, across the floor progressions, and combinations.

  • Tiny Tot Ballet & Jazz

    Make friends, explore movement, and develop dance skills. Dancers will learn the basics of jazz dance through fun activities and dance combinations. Simple jazz movements that children can easily execute are taught. Emphasis is placed on rhythm, basic technique, locomotor skills and coordination. Please wear appropriate dance attire such as leotards along with dance skirts, jazz shorts, or leggings. Please no baggy clothing or long skirts/dresses. Students should have their hair pulled back into ponytails.

  • Leaps & Turns

    This class focuses on the technical aspects of jumping, leaping and turning by teaching a variation of jumps, leaps, and turns.  Dancers will develop fundamental skills along with strength, balance, elevation, and body alignment.

  • Contemporary/Lyrical

    This class is a combination of ballet, jazz, lyrical, and modern dance styles.  It is a ballet-based technique that allows for a greater range of movement.  This class focuses on centering and strengthening the body, increasing flexibility, proper body placement and alignment, fluidity of movement and emotion.  This class also emphasizes the interpretation of music lyrics while telling a story. 

  • Hip-Hop

    Hip Hop is a high-energy class that infuses the latest styles of street dancing, breaking, popping, and locking.  This class will introduce students to the basic vocabulary and style of hip hop movement. This class will also encourage students to step outside of the box by bringing their own individual style and personality to the movements.  This high energy class is about personal style and self-expression.  Hip Hop can be taught to anyone with a passion to move, so no dance experience is required.

  • Acro/Tumbling & Hip-Hop Tricks

    Learn the basics or work on advancing your existing skills in this fun unique class blend of acrobatics and Hip Hop tricks.  Our experienced acro instructor will guide the class to increasing flexibility, balance, strength, muscle control, discipline, and concentration.  This class will focus on fundamental acrobatic technique, teaching a basic and variation of skills such as handstands, chin stands, elbow stands, cartwheels, back bends, walkovers, balance, and contortion tricks.  This class also includes a tumbling instructor to work with more advanced students on back handspring, back tucks, back lay-out and running tumbling passes.  This class will be taught according to each student’s individual level of experience.  

  • Majorette Dance

    This class is inspired by HBCU dancers in collegiate marching bands and the Hit TV Show “Bring It”.  This class will teach majorette technique, struts, battle counts, and field show choreography.  Come and experience how to dance from the soul with a touch of style and elegance. 

  • Heels

    Find your inner sassy, sexy diva with this new, fun, and exciting dance class.  Learn new dance moves to help you feel comfortable, confident, and sexy with your body.  This class will include dance genres from pop, jazz, grooves, and Hip-Hop.  This class can be done with or without heels.  Wear anything that makes you feel sexy!   No dance experience required!  Let your hair down, bring a friend, and a pair of your favorite fierce heels.

  • Adult Hip-Hop

    This is a fun and high-energy class designed for individuals 18 and up who love to dance!  We welcome experienced and inexperienced dancers.  Come and learn dance combos and routines to the latest sounds of rap, R&B and pop music from our experienced dance choreographer who exudes nothing but Upgraded swag!  

  • Modern Dance 1

    This is a first introduction to Modern dance for young children. While moving freely through space each child explores an innovative and highly creative dance form in a structured class environment.

  • Modern Dance 2

    Classes integrate various traditional disciplines of modern dance foundations with current contemporary styles. These classes are for dancers who like physical complicated floor work, patterns of movement and self-expression. Elements of improvisation are also introduced.
